The first Trails game that doesn’t take place in Liberl actually turned out to be pretty good. It was definitely much better than sky, improving some issues the original trilogy had. While some bosses were a bit frustrating, there wasn’t a single time in my first playthrough where I came close to giving up. Plenty of the characters are likeable and a couple of my favorites debut in this game.
As expected, since this is only the first half of the Crossbell story, not everything is resolved but thankfully, the ending wasn’t a painful cliffhanger like in Sky FC, or Cold Steel III. Also, I was a little surprised that this one had achievements built in. And carry over data is tied to points you earn from said achievements and now there’s more work you gotta do to carry stuff over which is kind of annoying. In the end, it was a really good game with a few issues and I can’t wait for Azure next year.
